as a 501c , I seem to remember those are the full fledged charities , while bay LISA and similar groups are just professional organizations , and getting donations should get easier especially when the donor wants a tax write off [ under a 501c ] . Rick Moen wight know more about 501c status and why that might prove useful to SVLUG but as a director of the non-profit corporation bay LISA he might not have bothered learning some of the 501c specific details. bay LISA is doing well lately regarding corporate donors but Jennifer deserves much credit , the point being that SVLUG's recent success may hinge on improving local conditions as well.
