to implement san... get out your golden goose ...

- you'd need to get some expensive HBA ( probably qlogic if you want to
  use linux )

- get the lawyers lined up to fend off the sharks and whales in the san
  market ... 

- most of the san equipment are cross-certified to work with each other
  which means if you're the new kid on the block .. watch out for the
  big bullies with very deep pockets ... if something goes wrong in 
  big ole corp environment, somebody is in deep kaa-kaa
