So, when you say thin client, do you mean that it will act as a basic file
server, or will it be doing the processing for the client as well?
LOM = Lights Out Manager. It allows you to do various things such as get
remote console (via serial) power on/off the server, etc. It has it's own
ethernet and serial port on the HP DL145 that I use for my personal colo.
Sounds like you need an opteron with a nice LSI or Adaptec SCSI RAID card
and enough disks to do a RAID1 OS volume and a RAID10 thin client serving
volume.
