It is pricey, at US$350, but I have one of these:

The only problem is older machines that don't have to option of
auto-power-on after a power outage.
As long as the BIOS setup is text based, not graphical, and you
don't use framebuffer consoles it works fairly good. Except knowing
where the cursor is. It leaves the cursur at the last screen update
location, not where it really is. (A bitch for using vi.) I haven't
checked if they changed this behavior in the latest firmware.
