I don't understand what you're asking. Are you asking about how to
install the OS, or are you asking how how to package and distribute the
application, etc.
One thing to keep in mind on the "limited set of hardware" issue you
mentioned earlier, is that nothing forces you to use diverse hardware
with Linux. The above mentioned business could standardize on a very
limited set of hardware if it wanted, and still use Linux. Limited in
the sense that the business only deploys a small number of
configurations. There are a *large* -- basically inifinite -- number of
configurations out there to choose from, but you certainly don't need to
deploy them all.
