I have got my Netgear WG511 card working, but I am unable to get outside
my local LAN. Let me explain more fully.
I am using SuSE 9.1 with a Netgear WG511 card and Prism54 driver on my
Sony Vaio PCG-V505DX laptop machine. Using my wireless card, I can ping
my access point and other nodes on my internal LAN, but nothing outside
my LAN. However, using my internal ethernet port, eth0, I have no
problems reaching the outside world.
eth1 uses DHCP to get its IP address, which is successful.
After unplugging and disabling eth0 (ifdown eth0), the output of
ifconfig is:
eth1 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:09:5B:C2:0B:39
inet addr:192.168.1.7 Bcast:192.168.1.255 Mask:255.255.255.0
inet6 addr: fe80::209:5bff:fec2:b39/64 Scope:Link
UP BROADCAST NOTRAILERS RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
RX packets:6297 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:249 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000
RX bytes:422308 (412.4 Kb) TX bytes:30230 (29.5 Kb)
Interrupt:3
Running ping produces the following:
reg # ping -I eth1 204.127.202.4
PING 204.127.202.4 (204.127.202.4) from 192.168.1.7 eth1: 56(84) bytes
of data.
>From 192.168.1.7: icmp_seq=2 Destination Host Unreachable
>From 192.168.1.7 icmp_seq=2 Destination Host Unreachable
What would cause this?
TIA
Reg.
