Please, dear gods, no. Email can be endlessly filtered, rewritten,
controlled, redirected, presented in different fashions, handled in any
fashion you care for. Web fora are conversely straightjackets with
pinhole vision and a severely limited range of UIs or tools.

Mailing list gated to newsgroup.
Of course the really cheap way of doing that is GMane. That way you
also get the web UI for those still addicted.
