[svlug] [idea] Package Maintainer Company

Someone should start a company that maintains binary packages for every
[major] GNU/Linux distribution.

Case and point...  AOL has AOL Instant Messenger.  Closed source binary
piece o' crap software, right?  Well so what.  Anyway, this company
would be given the source code, and help AOL make sure it builds
correctly on all the [major] distributions, and provide AOL with access
to cleanly installable packages as often as AOL needs/wants.

What do you all think?

P.S.: No, I'm not thinking of starting this company.  I have other
      plans.
