Hi Jeff,
Thanks for the information about that. Did the RHL -> RHEL transition go
smoothly, in your opinion?
Can you tell me if the RHEL system file locations are the same or similar to
what they were in RHL - i.e. /etc, /etc/sysconfig, /etc/rc.d, etc.? I have
all locally-modified files from /etc and other locations under version
control, so I'm hoping that once I do the fresh install of RHEL, install the
databases and client files, I can just roll out my modified system files and
be up and running fairly quickly.

We moved some business critical stuff to RHEL WS and ES (from 7.3, which
already went EOL -- we skipped RH 8/9). For less critical stuff we went
with Fedora Core 1, which does update (as opposed to reinstall) from Red
Hat Linux.
