This would be Disk-on-Chip technology.
You know, Compact Flash, PCMCIA memory, memory sticks, Secure Digital cards,
Multi-Media Cards, Smart Memory...  I have a 1Gigabyte Compact Flash card, that
I bought for my Sharp Zaurus PDA.  Though, I have loaned it out to a friend for
use in his digital camera.  Somewhere I have a 4Megabyte PCMCIA Flash Memory
card for my Apple Newton (long gone, screen cracked, not worth saving.)

That would be far sturdier than sending spinning disks up there.
