You're preaching to the choir by telling me that - tell the list. :-)
Oh, I see you re-sent it there before I finished writing this...

I have a feeling that not enough SVLUG members appreciate the significance
that the documentary movie about the history of Linux specifically shows
SVLUG and its installfest as a part of the growth of Linux. Then again,
I may be underestimating SVLUG members... Amazon.com says the Revolution OS
DVD is "popular in San Jose, CA". That can't be bad. And they only know
that from the copies they've sold - they're not the only source.

Kudos to Brian Chrisman and his predecessor Russ Emerson for running the
SVLUG installfests every month. (Russ ran it for over a year, including when
Revolution OS filmed there. And I think Brian has been there every month for
almost 4 years now - which will soon be twice as much as all the previous
SVLUG Installfest coordinators combined.) It's definitely been a part of the
history of Linux's growth. It has a direct effect via the people helped
there. And it has indirect effects from the example it set for other LUGs
in the region, and others everywhere via the Revolution OS documentary.

I think the only other installfests going on monthly are by BALUG (SF/Oakland)
and LUGoD (Davis). I know that the LUGs in Sacramento, Reno and San Luis
Obispo try to hold one once in a while. They've held them in Fresno and
Santa Cruz before too. But their difficulty goes to show what an effort
it takes to make a monthly event out of this. So don't forget to thank
Brian or even help at an Installfest when you get a chance. The next one
is this coming Saturday, the 21st.
