Hello all,
You may remember my saga about searching for a place
to park my FreeBSD/Apache/MySQL server. Well, I've found
an ideal place in a guy's office who is building a consulting
company over here in Butte, Montana. (I came here from the
bay area a couple of months ago.)
He has a 1.5 meg DSL connection right now, but says
he'll go up as much as we need to run the server. He also
has several projects in the pike and is really excited about
developing and hosting LAMP projects for this part of the
country. We have several bids out now that are more than
likely to come in.
My immedidate need, today, is to get the server up so
his potential clients can start seeing the PostNuke sites
I've already built and I can start doing specs on the the
projects we're going to be bidding on.
Now, I'm a coder with a strong C++ background, but I'm
pretty new to sys admin stuff. I know how to get a LAMP
server up and going, but I'm having a little trouble getting
this one connected through his DSL modem.
If anyone on this list is available to help me on the phone
today I certainly can pay you for your time. I know it's mostly
a matter of getting rc.conf set right to talk to the web
through his DSL modem. We have 13 static IPs assigned
to us, but I'm not sure how to configure the BSD box
exactly to talk to the outside world.
If you want to respond to this message with a number
you can be reached at I can call you when I get over to
Butte in about an hour. It's 7:30 here now, and
I should be there by 8:30 or 9:00.
Thanks a ton,
Skip
