not sure what this has to do with what i feel are completely illogical
and irrationaly linux world trip reports. this and the other report
stating there were windows systems in the booths are completely
farcical. completely bogus.

for each "out there/fringe" discussion i had there were 10+ solid future
looking with individuals building for profit systems and open source.

there are issues ... there always are with any entity, cooprorate or
not. there are also significant misunderstandings on a number of
accounts and alot of "me too" drum beating.

solaris 10 is rolling out as open source. track blogs.sun.com for the
progress. the bsd folks i spoke with were quite enthusiastic about this
initiative ... just as are we.

a truly secure end-to-end networked system is the vision. always has
been. it's constituent components can and do vary over time *but* we
are building out the vision and there are many open avenues for
collaboration. i guess folks can keep repeating to themselves "sun
doesn't get linux" pretending that is the case ... but as i told florin
"... are you kidding me? take a look around ..." i use linux of one
flavor or another everytime i touch a console, personally and, i
underscore, professionally. there are also, rightfully so, fully loaded
solaris systems in the mix as well as we care, very much so, about the
"end to end network." lastly, other reply in seeing windows systems
prominently on display is flatout false. flat out. laughable if it
weren't for the sad fact that some here may believe it had they not
ventured into the pavillion and had a chat.

business dealings and the associated entitlements/etc are trade-rag
material, at least to a gear-head like me. there's a significant amount
of urban legend being passed around at the koolaid water cooler.

i suggest a reset. put the koolaid (ie religion) aside for a moment.
grab a beer (glad to hear the mt view brewer's festival is back on this
year). explore the vision. collaborate via the many open avenues.
