Which bottons are you referring to exactly?

Do you mean the initial grub splash image, or the image that displays 
during boot which hides all of the init processes, or the login image?

Just curious, because each one is different. Also, if you mean the 
general look of the buttons, then they are controlled by the GTK theme. 
If this is what you are referring to then you can change your GTK theme.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help, but I'm really not sure which screen 
you are asking about.
