Ah, I had no idea you had been talking about a Voodoo 3 2000.
That's exactly what I have in my main box, an old 300MHz Celeron (OC'd to 450)

It's been YEARs since I set up X on this box, but it's currently running
Debian Stable.  If this helps, here's what I've got installed that has
the string "3dfx" in the package name or description ;%)

kendrick at amiga:~$ dpkg --list | grep -i 3dfx
ii  device3dfx-sou 2001.07.28     Device driver source for 3Dfx boards for 2.2
ii  libglide2      2001.01.26-1.1 Graphics library for 3Dfx Voodoo based cards
ii  libglide3      2001.01.26-1.1 Graphics library for 3Dfx Voodoo based cards

I can run 'glxgears' full-screen (1024x768 16bpp) and get ~70 FPS.
