And one of those caveats which you might have a problem with is
passwords.  Some laptops, particularly IBM Thinkpads, have passwords
which block making any BIOS changes (such as upgrading its internal
disk for example), etc.  If your laptop does have such passwords, make
sure you get it from the seller.
