[svlug] emberassing ? about grub

been there done that... what i winded up doing was to boot the redhat9.0
cd with linux rescue, then i went to a custom install and installed only
the smp kernel package (works fine on a laptop!) since rpm noticed i was
installing a new kernel it went and rewrote the grub for me thus fixing
the boot sector, then i booted into this new kernel and used my
favourite editor to have it boot the original kernel. i assume this
would work even if you dont have a redhat install but dont take my word
on this
