Do you get grub prompt? If so you can use it's powerful command line to
find the kernel and install it, i.e. boot from it.

Otherwise you need to boot from floppy and use HD for root then run
grub-install. If that fails boot from CD and mount / partition, chroot
to it and run grub-install. Edit /boot/grub/grub.conf if necessary. That
should work.

You may also want to create bootable floppy with grub on it.
