TWUUG ( Tidewater VA LUG ) had a presentation on intranet radio at the
last meeting. The presenter, who is a radio professional, talked about the
domestic multi-channel intranet radio system he'd hacked together for his
home. He likes OGG but presently all 1700 of his CDs are MP3. He does
however plan to redo the entire collection into OGG in the not too distant
future and will be doing so from the original disks for exactly the
reasons
Ira points out. He has a headless box in his "closet" dedicated to ripping
CDs on load so its merely a matter of changing CDs every once in a while
One interesting thing is that he claims his hearing is abysmal due to many
years in high ambient noise environments but that at the frequencies he
can
hear, OGG is marginally superior to MP3.
