it's got a very weak controller, and all mpeg processing is done on a
dedicated chip. When Ogg has hardware implementations, we'll all be
happier... AFAIR even the Empeg (RIP) used specialized hardware for the
decoding, thus no ogg.

as for the question here about translating oggs to MP3 earlier, I would
advise against it. as the Xiph site explains, ogg and mpeg use very
different acoustic models to choose which frequencies to lose during
compression, and recompressing to mpeg means you get lossy^2 signal, in
a way, since the procedure will never add back lost frequencies but will
get rid of more of them, either way you translate it. bottom line is
you'd be better off with compressing a ripped original.

I dream of the day I'll have a regular DVD deck that plays ogg and DivX
in my living room entertainment center :)
