You're even too scrupulous and correct.
I definitively have apreciated your work as a moderator, and behind the
scenes as an administrator, in the years I've been a SVLUG list member.

For what? Spam is one of my problems too. I'm doing it for myself.
It will take less and it will be more effective to write an email than
write a smart script to auto feed /etc/postfix/access.
If someone is a RH customer I'd suggest to complain there too.
Please don't move the incriminated email from the archives, I'm going
to refer to it.
Unfortunately I was surprised to the notice the list doesn't have a
clear policy to deal with spam (just 2 lines will be enough to say we
notified it is not tollerated), it may come usefull in case of repeated
harrassment.

YaST is not GPLed. It wasn't last time I checked. It came (and maybe it
still come) with source, the right to change it, but no right to
distribute the changed source.

Yep, but SuSE and RH[*] will be quite upset. At least I hope they will.
They may block their IP or find something more creative to do to avoid
their name will be associated once more with a spammer.
I'm just trying to lower the chances that spamming will be free and
unavoidable.
This is what I'm sending to SuSE:
As one of your customer I'm sorry to inform you that a spammer promoted
your products on the SVLUG mailing list. The association of your name to
such pratices is definitively shadowing your image.
Blocking their IP to your FTP will be apreciated.
Here you'll find the incriminated email:

Thank you for your collaboration
no need to torture them... we can keep the thing legal ;)
[*] any RH customer there?
