Probably true in many respects, but I've known many people who used
Debian or slackware as their first distro, and they tend to have a
certain handle on the system that comes from _having_ to learn how
everything works to get it up and going the first time 'round..  People
who start from redhat and work down have to learn things when it is much
less convenient (i.e. something important needs to be done).  Sounds
like our friend has the time to stick it out with a hardier distro..

I used TurboLinux (essentially RH) for several years before dumping it
for Debian, and I only wish I had done it sooner, even though it would
have made working for TurboLinux a bit awkward ;p
