Anyone upgraded and older iMac to play with MacOS 10.x -
particularly integrating it into a linux network environment?

Looking for resources/advice/etc - anyone know an appropriate
mailing list or site I can refer to?  MacOS is not my thing, and
I need some advice.  Google gives me too many hits and most seem
off-topic for my needs.  I specifically need to know if
recommended and how to upgrade an old iMac to OS X. At least once
it's there I can have some clue about it's innards (as opposed to
now on OS 8.5, where I am little more than clueless).

Links?  Other lists?  Perhaps the 'right' list, where this would
be entirely on-topic?
