Can Lindows be 'locked down' easily, so that noone can alter the
desktop, panels, preferences, etc.? And so that they can't get to a
terminal?

Also, I thought Lindows was a non-free (i.e., costs money) product.

Remember - All this device needs to do is sit there and allow web browsing
but _nothing_ else.

Finally, noone involved in the project (that I'm aware of) has any
experience with Lindows. We'd prefer to stick to stuff we know
(and that it's likely many _others_ will know, as well), so that it's as
easy to support as possible.

Things that come to mind include RedHat, Debian, KDE, Gnome, Konqueror,
Mozilla.
