Have you tried modprobe? modprobe is to insmod as 'apt-get install' is
to dpkg, or up2date or mandrakeupdate (IIRC) is to /bin/rpm; ie, it will
figure out the dependencies of the operation you're requesting and
perform them first. In the case of modprobe, it will figure out what
modules need to be loaded in order to load the module you're telling it
to load, insert those modules first, and then insert the module you
requested.
