One of sbay.org's regular social events is a monthly bicycle ride called
the Geek Ride, held each month from March to October. This month's ride
is on Sunday August 25. The starting time will be at 3PM. (Note that the
time has been changed *back* to 3PM to accomodate SVLUG's viewing of
"Revolution OS" at 7PM. Usually we start at 4PM in July and August to
avoid typical Summer heat. But since this month's route is near the bay,
the afternoon breeze should alleviate that. Starting at 3PM will give
participants extra time to get a shower before going to the movie.) The
Geek Ride is meant as a social bike ride among Silicon Valley geeks. Rides
are usually up to 10 miles with occasional stops to chat or look around.
This month's route will start at the Baypointe light rail station in
North San Jose and go to the Sunnyvale Baylands Park (same location where
the Picn*x11 picnic was held a week ago), following the San Francisco
Bay Trail. Sights along the ride include the park, the levees by the bay
and the Moffett air traffic control radar. We'll hop on the light rail
from Sunnyvale to return to the starting point. The group usually stops
for food after the ride.
Please let me know if you can make it. Although if your schedule opens up
at the last minute, don't hesitate to just drop in and join us.
