Gack.
A small client of mine got caught in an ISP buyout and had an
enforced migration from Unix boxes as the web hosts to Win2000
servers. Mind you, they got less than 30 days notice
even. Yikes. Contractually, he cannot leave this ISP/CLEC
without a major financial hit.
SO, he's hosed. I don't do Winblows and have a collection of
perl cgi scripts that I've modified or built from scract for this
client over the past few years. He needs them ported to Win2000
servers.
This is a small client, not a lot of volume work, but they are
the landlord for a lot of high tech companies in Pleasanton so
there are some possibilities for introductions to other potential
clients.
If you are a perl person and grok what it takes to make perl cgis
happy on Win2000 servers as well as on unix boxen, and you want
to make a few bucks, drop me an email. I know that all it should
take is some minor tweaking of paths, but there may be some other
porting issues too. I don't know Win2000 well enough to
know. Heck, I'm not even a perl guy (but it's gotten a lot
better over time!).
This will be a direct deal - I'll introduce you to the client and
you guys go to town, and if you can provide them the needed
ongoing support - great. They can become your client. I'm not a
middleman in this one. BUT, this has been a good client and a
friend, so I want to make sure that if I send you to him that you
are somewhat cluefull, so please be prepared to vouch for
yourself (ie, references, code examples, etc as appropriate). I
don't like to refer dead weight.
Interested folks drop me an email please.
Greg
