Eric Pretorious wanted us to know:

>I have two identical machines sharing a PS/2 keyboard, PS/2 mouse, and
>monitor through a KVM switch. Both machines use gpm to "provide console
>cut-and-paste operations using the mouse." One machine, recognizes the mouse
>and works as-expected. The other machine, however, does not. Moving the
>mouse causes characters to be printed to the console and areas of the
>console-display to be hilighted.

This only happens to me when I boot the machine while the KVM has
another port selected. I usually only have to run 'service gpm restart'
and all is ok. Since you say that you done that several times, I'm not
sure what your fix will be. (BTW, if you boot directly to X, go to a
text console, do the service gpm restart, then back to X and
Ctrl-Alt-BackSpace - when it comes back up, the mouse will work).
