At Tue, 9 Oct 2001 it looks like Bill Schoolcraft composed:

bill->Hello Family,
bill->
bill->I'm at work linking a headless Sparc box to my Linux box running the
bill->default Mandrake-8.1 (2.4.8-26mdk) and in taking an initial peek at
bill->all the suspects after hooking up the serial cable I saw that the
bill->second serial port I'm using (there is a serial mouse on /ttyS0,
bill->long story) is actually linked to a subdirectory in /dev called tts/
bill->
bill->So the output looks like this:
bill->
bill->[wiliweld at -2.4.8-26mdk /dev]-> ls -al ttyS*
bill->
bill->lr-xr-xr-x 1 root root     5 Oct 7 23:33 ttyS0 -> tts/0
bill->lr-xr-xr-x 1 root root     5 Oct 7 23:33 ttyS1 -> tts/1
bill->crw-rw---- 1 root tty  4, 66 Oct 2 07:16 ttyS2
bill->crw-rw---- 1 root tty  4, 67 Oct 2 07:16 ttyS3
bill->
bill->
bill->I'm wondering if anyone can point me to some docs that addresss the
bill->redirection of my first serial port to a specific console.
bill->
bill->My console's are also reflected differently from what I'm used to,
bill->the console I'd like to select to link to /dev/ttyS1 is key <F3> and
bill->that turns out to be:
bill->
bill->/dev/vc/3 , not the usual /dev/tty3
bill->

Things worked out fine, used "minicom" to access /dev/ttyS1 and have
a constant connection to the Sparc box.

Now to start loading Linux on the Sparc.
