How about simply temporarily placing a simple shell script
'earlier' in the path than the system's uname:

#!/bin/sh
#	magic uname -r
[ "x$1" = "x-r" ] && {
	echo "5.7"
	} || {
	/bin/uname $1
	}
exit 0

and running install script? Remove the phantom when done ...
