It (WMP) runs (sometimes) under WINE, though how much sound you get may
vary.

There are a set of binary plugin modules (no sources AFAIK) for xanim.
I've recently D/L'd the Debian package of same though I don't know what
all's supported.  What's the WMP extension anyhow?
