Interesting anecdote... this morning I got my old-ish Altec
Lansing speakers (4 speakers and a sub) out from two jobs ago
when I packed up my desk and set them up on my home office desk.
Before I plugged into a source, I could hear a fair ammount of
static and what sounded like a faint voice coming out of the left
rear surround speaker. After a few seconds, I recognized I was
hearing Talk of The Nation... a few seconds later they announced
it was KQED. I moved the speakers to a filtered power circuit and
all is quiet again, but RFI is real. There's an incredible ammount
of electronic noise in the average home or office. I've got an
old P200 that makes an incredible humming at about 91.1FM
on the stereo across the room whenever there are fast video
updates (say a tar -xvf linux-kernel.tar) and that's with the case
on too.
