[svlug] Compaq's Diagnostic Partition ?

Hello Family,

In spending the evening down at some friends house in San Jose I
was fiddling with an Compaq PC (Pentium 166 era) and popped in a
Linux CD to determine if the Linux installation process would see
a new hard drive that the Compaq BIOS would not.

It was then while in FDISK I saw the additional partition on the
first drive and Linux's FDISK said it was a Compaq Diagnostic
Partition, can someone shed light on what happens if someone wipes
this out ? It was occupying the first part of the drive.

I wasn't going to post this but just read Rick's posting on the
boot process.
