[svlug] Barebone system, AMR modem anyone?

I am attempting to talk with a Lucent Winmodem on an Acer notebook. I
have Red Hat 7.0 + kernel 2.4.0 installed. The 2.4.0 drivers handle
the other hardware like the ALi UDMA and audio. However, the Linux
softmodem driver (from Lucent) that appears on some web sites seems
to assume a direct PCI or ISA attachment, while the Acer notebook
has the modem hooked in through an Audio Modem Riser (AMR) arrangement.
I happen to remember that the barebone systems sold at Fry's and other
places typically have an AMR modem and often have Linux bundled in.

So, does anyone have on of those barebone/Linux CDs handy? I'd like
to see if it supports an AMR modem. If so, perhaps there's hope for
running this Lucent device.

Thanks,
