According to Brad Grantham ex of SGI, and possibly still of VA, Mesa
achieved admirable OpenGL conformance test results, which also
happened in a few cases to be better than commercial openGL products
(I don't recall which he mentioned at the time).  He also noted that
the performance just wasn't there....but standards conformance is
the first step.
