Hi Todd, I tried your suggestion on my Red Hat 6.1 and got:
NETWORKING=yes
FORWARD_IPV4=yes
HOSTNAME="cannac"
GATEWAYDEV=
GATEWAY=
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0: No such file or directory
I changed vi to more since I don't need to change anything. I have no
ethernet card in the computer so ifcfg-eth0 doesn't exist.
This said it looks to me as if the only thing he needs to do is
use /etc/rc.d/init.d/network restart and that will pick up the new ip
address. A simple bash file...
