[svlug] Samba with support for Shadow Passwords in Debian

Hello,

I'm trying to configure Samba in my Debian 2.2 and while running the tests
described in /usr/doc/samba/DIAGNOSIS.txt.gz , I ran into problems with
TEST 7 (I got a "bad password" error). As I've already checked all the
other options for the error (as described in the doc), I'm assuming that
the problem is that I'm using shadow passwords but my Samba package wasn't
compiled with support for it.

Questions:
- Is there a way to check whether the Samba package (more precisely smbd)
  is compiled with Shadow password support or not??
- Does anyone know a place where I can get a Samba .deb package with 
  support for shadow passwords?
