[svlug] Linux Fund MBNA MasterCard.

So, I just got my REJECTION letter from the Linux Fund MBNA MasterCard!? I
find this insulting and amusing at the same time. I have to throw out maybe
3-5 "pre-approved" letters from all kinds of credit cards per WEEK it seems.
I hold a PLATINUM Discover card and a few other visa/mc cards. All with next
to zero balance. All my loans (car, personal, etc.) are paid on time or
early since day one. In fact I only owe $3k on my $24k Mitsubishi Eclipse
GS.

Their response in the letter was that I "do not have sufficient established
revolving credit accounts or have a history of delinquency". What kind of
smack are they smoking? They also use some whack credit agency that I've
never heard of: "Trans Union"? I thought "Equifax" was the standard agency.
I've sent for my free report from Trans Union, so we'll see what it says.

I find it amusing because here is a fund that desperately needs money
flowing in, and they reject me! ha! The other moronic thing I noticed is
that it says, "Platinum Plus MasterCard". It would seem to me, and this is
just common sense, so maybe MBNA is lacking in that area, that they would
say, "we cannot accept you for a Platinum Plus card, but we would like to
offer you a regular MasterCard".

Another thing I find amusing, is that you would think that the Linux Fund
would be mainly 'geeks' (and I mean that in the best sense of the word), but
yet, in order to dispute this rejection letter, I must actually pen a letter
and mail it to some POBox! No email!??? Not even a phone number to call! How
80's can they get?

Oh one more thing, it said "Don Hamilton", "Customer Advocate" at the bottom
(not even signed). HA!

Just thought I'd share a bit of personal information with, the entire
world...

d.
