Yup.  I'm not convinced that anyone would have an easy time going up
against a unique solution like the one I proposed, not to mention a
decently hardened box, but it is flawed.  I guess your idea about not
"in-band" control would be much better, but again, that really relies
on obscurity (and again, that's not such a bad thing - in this case).
