Something in your partition table is host.  most likely this means
that something within either the first 512 bytes or 1Meg of your
disk was whacked.

You do have a backup of your partition table don't you?

Essentially you'll need to bring up the disk and re-create your old
partition table.  Depending on how much data you have regarding the
original partition table this can be a process of seconds of quite a
few hours.
