[svlug] People using RH and building there own kernels

I need some type of statistic, how many people who run Red Hat and build
their own kernel with sources other than from redhat (.srpm) and have
had no problem (or problems). I know Redhat modifies their binary kernel
and also their .srpm kernels, but don't know if their modifications are
that extreme as to break anything in their distro if you use "pristine"
sources.

The reason why I need to know this is I need to write up a company
procedure on how to get newer source kernels, make nessary tweaks to it,
build an rpm out of it, and drop it in an custmized Redhat install cd,
without too much concern on my side of things going awry.

TIA and everyresponse would be appreciated as I normally use Debian and
don't have to worry about this.

Steve
