That's specifically why Java is a separate download now.

Netscape 6/Mozilla (which, BTW, I recommend Mozilla 0.9.x over NS 6.01)
implement the whole JVM/Java functionality as a plugin through the open
java interface; read about it at:

The whole point was that anyone could build a JVM plugin and NS6/Mozilla
could use it, thus alleviating the whole supposed "Netscape borkedness"
problem.

For the Mozilla nightlies, you can use the NS6 JVM plugin just fine.

Incidentally, I've found the Java plugin under Mozilla/NS6 to be stable
enough to actually browse with Java turned on... quite a departure from the
NS4 days.
