Agreed.

Serial ATA will liekly happen.  I don't hold much hope for it being
actually useful however.

Both ATA and SCSI are reaching physical wire limits that cannot be
beaten.  Both are not far from the end of their lives.  Infiniband
currently looks like the most likely replacement, tho I have some
hope for a low level Object Store to come out of the guys at
Panasus, especially on account of their founder's previous
activities.

Panasus are hiring BTW -- mention me if you end up going that way.
