This is the social engineering aspect that will continue to escape
OSS, at least until OSS desktop applications gain popularity. It is
not something that can "simply be written" -- an organization has to
be formed to work with banks to do this. That often requires
significants amounts of cash.
Hence, the OSS modem doesn't look good -- unless a commercial entity
can pick it up. Let's hope Ximian, Eazel and The Kompany can.
