Being the culprit in question (thanks Dierdre, Rick), I suppose I
should leak a few details.

Taos is coordinating a 10th Anniversary event for Linux. Things are
still very much in the planning stages at the moment, but I've
approached several people so far -- including Rick, Dierdre (to
solicit Tivo's involvement...I dropped a note off for their evangelist
on Monday), USENIX, LI via maddog (though I think he's dedicating his
efforts elsewhere for this occasion, and we hope to be a part of that
as well), LPI, VA Linux, and others. We'd like to involve SVLUG and
BayLISA as well.

The idea is that we will have a short series of speakers, addressing
the history of Linux and its impact on the Unix and sysadmin
communities, the current state of all three, and the future of each as
we head into the future. This will be accompanied in some manner by
egregious amounts of fun.

The date and venue are still up in the air, but if things go well, we'll
be doing this August 25th, the Saturday just before LinuxWorld Expo kicks
off in San Francisco this year. And the venue, though not decided, may
be a large facility named after a former mayor.

If anyone is interested in participating, feel free to drop me a line.

mcl, CTO of Taos: The SysAdmin Co.
