Er, /sbin/lilo is a program that creates the boot loader, which
typically is stashed at /boot/boot.b unless I misremember...
And that file is considerably smaller:
tux:~ # ls -al /boot/boot.b
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 4568 Mar 13 2000
/boot/boot.b
I bet an enterprising coder could modify the actual boot loader
code to act as if tab had been pressed by default... giving the
list of boot targets automatically. Even better, if lilo could
have a command line argument that would enable/disable that
behavior in boot images it installed. Then folks creating
systems for non-techies could use that to make things a tad
easier for the newbie dual booters.
Of course, it's not hard to remember to press tab - especially
once you are used to tab as the "command line completion key".
