Still the best compromise of cost, speed, and capacity for typical
systems.  You typically get about 35 MB/minute backup speeds.  DDS3
tapes & drives can get something like 24 GB on each tape (with assumed
2:1 compression -- 12 GB raw).  The drives are on the order of a few 
hundred dollars these days for DDS2.  A couple hundred more for DDS3.

If you're serious about anything like a rotational backup system, the 
allegedly cheaper alternatives are in fact significantly more expensive,
cosidering media cost.
