[svlug] VMWare revisited momentarily

I haven't used the serial port, but I had (partial) success with using the
parallel port.  I compiled the kernel w/ PC parallel support and load
parport_pc.o as a module.  I did need to change the permissions on
/dev/parport0 to allow others to write to the port---probably not 
secure or the right way to do it.
