A good idea for a site, but it's not quite what I envisioned for what I'm
doing.

The issues regarding online freedoms have been endlessly debated
online. Problem is that the participants in these discussions tend to be
the "geek" crowd; a very small minority of the voting public.

It's similar to the eff talk we recently had at the svlug meeting. It was
wonderfully informative, and a big wakeup call to many, but it was
preaching to the choir. Posting to slashdot about "Your Rights
Online" means absolutely nothing; the vast majority of the online
community (I'm talking about the AOL'ers here, for lack of a better
term) never read Slashdot.

These issues extend far beyond our technical communities, and there has
been little effort to reach Joe and Jane Public. They are the target
audience for the site I am building.

Over the past twenty years, scientists, engineers, and hobbiests have
built the foundation of the Internet. Today, we are handing it over to
uninformed lawmakers and Big Business. IMO, a very accurate assessment of
the online culture can be found at:

I encourage everyone to read it.
