[svlug] squid not allowing ftp proxy?

Do you have packet filter running?  ipfwadm or ipchains?  Are they the same
for your home machine and the school?

The hang sounds like the data connection is blocked.  It will happen to
if you try using normal command line ftp client on the school machine.
The symptom is that you can ftp login, but the connection hang when you
try ls.
